Map-based I-See is a subscription service that enhances the fuel-saving potential of I-See predictive cruise control. The service provides access to a high-resolution commercial topography map that is automatically downloaded to the truck as it drives along its route. The map, working together with GPS coordinates, enables map-based I-See to continuously optimize speed and gear changes for the road ahead – resulting in better fuel consumption and drivability from day one.
A map-based I-See subscription includes a license to the topography map for an initial period of 5 years. As the truck drives forward, map data of the routeʼs next two kilometers is downloaded to the truck from a centrally stored map in the cloud. If the road is not covered by a map, or if the cloud connection or GPS signal has failed, the truck will revert to the basic version of I-See. Once the commercial map is available again, map-based service will resume.

As you approach a hill, the truck downloads data from a high-resolution commercial topography map, accessible online. In a six-step process, the information is then used to maximize the truckʼs kinetic energy and reduce your fuel consumption by up to 5%, compared to a truck without I-See. If the road isnʼt featured on the map, or if the server connection should fail, the truck will fall back to the shared database solution.
Map-based I-See primarily uses data from a highresolution commercial topography map thatʼs updated in the truck automatically when a new version is available. Secondarily it uses shared data – stored in the cloud. And if needed, the system uses locally stored data. This means youʼll always have access to topography data, have a smoother driving experience and know that the system is constantly being updated remotely.
Map-based I-See has the potential to save you even more fuel by adding the I-Torque function. I-Torque uses data from I-See to optimize the available engine torque output, for example when driving uphill. The driving is adjusted based on the route, both where youʼre at and what is coming around the corner.
I-See knows a hill is ahead, so the truck accelerates and remains in a higher gear for longer.
By preventing needless gear changes, I-See makes your uphill climb smoother and more fuel-efficient.
When the downhill is approaching, I-See stops accelerating unnecessarily.
To save energy and minimize braking, I-See temporary disengages either the powertrain or engine brakes just before a downhill slope.
I-See knows where one slope ends and the next begins, and applies the brakes as needed for maximum efficiency.
If youʼre about to go uphill again, I-See lets the truck coast, building speed and momentum for an effortless climb.
